ADOS-2 Reliability

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2; Lord, Luyster, Gotham, & Guthrie, 2012; Lord, Rutter et al., 2012) is a semi-structured, standardized measure of communication, social interaction, play/imagination, and restricted/repetitive behaviours. The ADOS-2 is used with individuals who have been referred because of a possible Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and is often referred to as the “gold standard” observational assessment for ASC (Kanne, Randolph, & Farmer, 2008). The ADOS-2 provides a relatively brief observation of current symptoms and should be considered in the context of a comprehensive clinical assessment of ASC.

Our online reliability training is suitable for clinicians and researchers who are trained in the ADI-R or ADOS-2. Reaching and maintaining reliability in both assessments is essential in ensuring the highest standards in clinical and research contexts. Even the most experienced administrators should check their coding and administration to ensure that they are consistently reliable and in line with international calibration.

Further guidance on the assessment of ASC can be found here for children and young people, and here for adults.

How Compass Online Reliability Training works

Once you have paid to access the video, you will be emailed and granted access to the video that you have selected. Once you have downloaded, completed and submitted your score sheet you will be sent consensus scores along with an explanation of each code. Consensus scores have been agreed by experienced and internationally reliable ADOS-2 trainers. In some cases (where appropriate consent has been obtained) the consensus process has also involved videos being reviewed at reliability meetings involving larger groups of professionals who are ADOS-2 trained. All our online reliability training is CPD Certified.

For information about online ADOS-2 reliability workshops (run by Marianna Murin and Emma Woodhouse) please visit ASDirections.
