ADI-R Reliability

The Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R; Lord, Rutter and LeCouteur, 1994) is a semi-standardised interview of established reliability and validity (Lord, Rutter and LeCouteur, 1994). This detailed assessment focuses on developmental delays, differences in reciprocal social interactions, language, communication and play and restricted and stereotyped behaviours and interests.

Even the most experienced ADI-R administrators should check their coding and administration to ensure that they are consistently reliable and in line with international calibration.

Further guidance on the assessment of autism can be found here for children and young people, and here for adults.

Leading ADI-R trainers have pooled their wealth of knowledge to provide a unique experience for professionals to develop their administration and scoring of the ADI-R. Once your ADI-R codes have been submitted you will receive the agreed consensus codes along with an explanations about how these scores were determined. All our online reliability training is CPD Certified

‘Alessa’ (Female, aged 12)

Check your reliability and develop your skills and confidence in the complexities of ADI-R administration and coding. Go deeper with Alessa, whose complex assessment lasts for almost five hours (split into four sections) and covers every item of the ADI-R.  This example provides an in depth exploration of coding complexities and demonstrates how to use additional questioning to elicit the necessary information.

Note: We use sections from the Alessa example for our ADI-R training.  If you have completed Compass ADI-R training, then this is an opportunity to watch the entire interview.

‘George’ (Male, aged 5)

Check your reliability and develop your skills and confidence with this focused example of items 29-85 of the ADI-R.  George’s complex assessment lasts 152 minutes and provides an in depth exploration of coding complexities and demonstrates how to use additional questioning to elicit necessary information.

‘Lou’ (Female, aged 24)

Check your reliability and develop your skills and confidence with this focused example of items 29-79 of the ADI-R.  Lou’s complex assessment lasts 165 minutes and provides an in depth exploration of coding complexities and demonstrates how to use additional questioning to elicit necessary information.
